Stable positive dynamics of indicators on improving the living standards of the population has been observed in the Rostov region since 2000.

The average monthly accrued wages of employees for a full range of enterprises and organizations in January-December 2012 amounted to 19,444.1 rubles, which is 14.1% higher than the corresponding period in 2011 (source: donland.ru).

Salary growth was observed in all types of activities, with the exception of fishing and fish farming enterprises. The maximum wage for employees engaged in financial activities is 40,594.3 rubles (2.1 times higher than the average in the region). The lowest level of wages was at fishing and fish farming enterprises — 9,266.3 rubles (47.7% of the average in the region), hotels and restaurants — 9,525.2 rubles (49.0% of the average wage in the region).

The city of Rostov-on-Don, as the largest municipal formation of the region, is the most indicative for analysis. The information below is based on data from the city of Rostov-on-Don.

The average monthly accrued wages of employees for a full circle of enterprises in the city of Rostov-on-Don in January 2013 amounted to 24,009 rubles, exceeding the level of the average monthly accrued wages in January 2012 (20,383 rubles) by 17.8%. The size of the average monthly accrued wages of workers for a full circle of city enterprises for the same period was 23.4% higher than the average monthly accrued wages of workers of this circle of enterprises in the Rostov Region. The purchasing power of wages of Rostovites in the reporting period amounted to 3.6 sets of a living wage. The average monthly accrued wages of workers in large and medium-sized enterprises of the city in January 2013 amounted to 26,916 rubles, exceeding by 14.3% the level of the average monthly accrued wages for January 2012 (23,555 rubles).

The average city level of wages is 24,009 rubles. The maximum size of the average monthly accrued wage in January 2013 was in Kirovsky (111.0% of the average city wage). The minimum size of the average monthly accrued wages is observed in the Oktyabrsky district of the city (14.2% lower than the average city wage). A high level of wages was observed among workers engaged in operations with real estate, engaged in rental and provision of services (1.01 times), in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water (at the average city level), among manufacturing workers and those engaged in work economic activity «transport and communications» (1.09 times in each form). The minimum size of accrued wages is noted in the form of economic activity of «hotels and restaurants» (32.1% lower than the average city salary).

The average monthly accrued wages of employees of enterprises not classified as large and medium, including small, in January 2013 amounted to 17,402 rubles, exceeding by 39.2% the average monthly accrued wages for January 2012. The average number of employees in a full range of enterprises and organizations in Rostov-on-Don in January 2013 amounted to 438,261 people, an increase of 1.8% compared with the data at the beginning of 2012. The working population of the city is 37.9% of the average number of employees of enterprises in the Rostov region (1156232 people in January 2013). The average number of employees increased at enterprises not classified as large and medium, including small ones by 8.7% (by 10725 people) and amounted to 133.9 thousand people.
