The structure of the gross regional product of the Rostov region.
The region is among the first 15 regions of Russia in terms of gross regional product.
The growth rate of gross regional product increased by 6.8% in the region compared to 2010. This is higher than the GDP growth in Russia (by 5.4%). The growth was achieved due to the accelerated development of all types of industrial production, agriculture, wholesale and retail trade. The pre-crisis level was restored in the region by this indicator in 2011.
The growth rate of gross regional product compared with 2011 increased by 2.7%.
The Rostov Region is open to mutually beneficial cooperation and welcomes constructive business proposals from domestic and foreign investors, the implementation of which will contribute to the development, integrity and prosperity of both the region and Russia as a whole.
The largest contribution to the formation of the gross regional product of the region was made by: industry, the share is 22.6%; trade and public catering — 21%; agriculture — 11.3%; transport and communications — 11.7%; construction — 8%.
Industry takes a leading place in the region’s economy, almost a quarter of the region’s working population is employed in it, about 1/4 of the gross regional product is created.
Fuel and energy, engineering and food industries occupy a leading place in the structure of industry. These enterprises create 80% of the products. Ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, chemical and petrochemical, timber, woodworking, light industry, construction industry are developed in the region.
Engineering is a specialization industry in the Rostov Region. Machine-building and metalworking in the Rostov region have a number of directions, in terms of the level of development of which the region takes a leading place not only in Russia, but also among the CIS countries.
The metallurgical complex plays a crucial role in the economy of the Rostov region and has a clearly defined all-Russian specialization.
The footwear and clothing industry are the most successful and promising light industry sectors in the Rostov Region.
